Arriva takes joint venture control

Article Image

Arriva has taken control of Centrebus Holdings, a joint venture formed with Centrebus in 2008 in which Arriva had a 40 per cent share. Centrebus Holdings operates 152 buses and employs 360 people. There are 125 buses at four depots in West Yorkshire and 27 in Hinckley in Leicestershire. The move does not affect the operations of Centrebus Ltd in Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Luton, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire which continue unchanged.

The operations in West Yorkshire are based in Huddersfield, Elland, Honley and Leeds, and will be led by Arriva  business director Martijn Gilbert. The Hinckley operation – which was part of Arriva Midlands prior to the formation of Centrebus Holdings – will be managed by that company. The operations will retain their existing identities rather than being rebranded under the Arriva name.
