Alexander Dennis reveals Enviro200Dart

ALEXANDER DENNIS' replacement for the Pointer Dart – Enviro200Dart - will be launched in June.

It will be available at five lengths from 8.9m to 11.4m and will offer a choice of four or six-cylinder Cummins ISBe engines. The 4-cylinder 4.5litre engine is rated at 140 or 160bhp and the 6-cylinder 6.7litre engine is rated at 205bhp and is the same as the one used in the Enviro300/400. A choice of 4- or 5-speed Allison 2100 or 3-speed Voith DV500 transmission is offered with a T-Drive layout and a new uprated rear axle.

The body will be an aluminium frame with GRP, ABS and aluminium panels. In terms of styling it aims to project the ‘ADL family look’ of the Enviro400 double-deck.

In the model’s 15 year life more than 12,000 Darts have been sold. “We know the Dart established itself as one of the most popular vehicles in the market place, and to a degree, it is the standard UK midi,”
“We believe it will become the new benchmark for the midibus.”
says ADL sales director Clive Hodgson who moved from Evobus at he beginning of the year to rejoin his former Falkirk colleagues.

“But we have taken the best of the old and integrated the best of the new in the Enviro200Dart which raises the bar yet again.

Whilst overall seating capacity is the same as earlier Darts, the new model will have more fixed seats for each length in the range – 26 plus 3 tip-ups in 8.9m single-door; and 35 plus 3 tip-ups in 10.7m versions. All-round disc brakes, integrated chassis and body multiplexing and cantilever seats are included in the new Dart. The driver’s area includes the new binnacle from the Enviro range.

ADL will offer the Enviro200Dart in chassis form to other bodybuilders but has yet to announce the timetable for this.
