Job cuts scaled down at Wrights

Article Image

The Wright Group has reduced the anticipated number of redundancies among its 900-strong workforce. In February it announced it was consulting with staff on up to 235 job losses as a result of the economic slow down. Now, after working in partnership with trade union Unite, the Northern Ireland Executive and government stakeholders, the company has reduced the number of proposed redundancies by 60 per cent.

Explains Wright Group managing director Mark Nodder: “To date we, Unite, Minister for Enterprise Trade and Investment, Arlene Foster, representatives from Department for Employment and Learning and Invest NI have worked tirelessly to lessen the number of staff affected by redundancies.

“We will continue to do everything we can to minimise the effect on our workforce and would like to thank them all for their excellent service and cooperation in this difficult time.”
