Blazefield expands with York deal

TRANSDEV Blazefield has agreed to acquire the business of Top Line Travel of York, and also the assets of Veolia’s York bus operations. Top Line operates local school contracts and open-top sightseeing tours under the City Sightseeing franchise. It has a fleet of 17 buses. Veolia runs 15 buses – operating from the same base as Top Line. It started operations in the city in February last year.

The move gives Blazefield a new York base – and could herald the expansion of operations in the city, where First is the major operator. At present the group’s only presence in York is the Yorkshire Coastliner operation, running through services from Leeds to the east coast.

Top Line Travel founder Peter Dew says: “We have always believed in the provision of a high quality service and are proud to have introduced low emission, easy access buses to York City tours, but now we need the backing of a bigger group to further the next stage of our development.”
