Unwin's 30 years at Mobility Roadshow
Over the last 30 years Unwin’s stands have attracted tens of thousands of visitors, including the Queen, Prince Andrew and the Duchess of Gloucester.
Unwin’s stand at this year’s show in Telford included a demonstration of its new 5m electric winch. The company says that the benefits of the winch include a soft-start system for wheelchair users’ comfort, acceleration and speed control, quiet customer-friendly operation and a 300kg payload up to a gradient of 25 per cent.
The winch is part of Unwin’s Solar range for wheelchair accessible vehicles.
Norman Unwin founded Unwin Safety Systems in Somerset in 1956. The company developed the world’s first wheelchair restraint and the first wheelchair-occupant restraint.
In June 2013, it formed a joint venture partnership with Sweden’s Autoadapt, which also has a long tradition of developing innovative improvements for safe, independent living for wheelchair users.
Customers are now able to purchase bespoke solutions, potentially encompassing a full range of products including lifts, flooring systems, safety restraints and seat fixtures.
