VisitBlackpool has thanked coach companies and drivers for helping with a study into the resort’s coach facilities. Drivers and coach operators across the country took part in the survey, according to VisitBlackpool, which asked about existing facilities and improvements they would like to see to help them bring more visitors to town.

Blackpool hopes the survey will help shape improvements to facilities in the future for the resort which welcomes in excess of a million visitors by coach each year.

“Coach companies are a huge contributor to Blackpool and we’re grateful for their business,” says Graham Cain, Blackpool Council cabinet member for leisure and tourism. “What we’ve tried to do with the survey is listen to the views of coach drivers and companies to help make it as easy as possible and as enjoyable as possible for them to continue to bring people to the resort.

“We’re collating the results at the moment and we hope to be able to begin looking at what improvements we can make soon.”

VisitBlackpool ran a prize draw alongside the survey and Ben Wedge, from Cook’s Coaches in Essex, was the winner of an Apple iPad mini.

For the 2014 summer season there are a number of events to attract coach visitors to Blackpool, including the only venue outside London to catch the global hit musical Mamma Mia! in the UK this year.

There is also the Blackpool Air Show on 10-11 August, the World Fireworks Championships on 5, 12, 19 and 26 September, and Blackpool Illuminations Switch-On weekend on 29-31 August.
