First to withdraw StreetCars from York

First is withdrawing its fleet of Wrightbus StreetCars from York. It marks a premature end to the ftr service which never fulfilled the promise of bus rapid transit in a city which provided minimal facilities to support First’s high-tech operation. The 11 vehicles will be replaced by double-deckers before Easter and, after being refurbished, will be redeployed on other services elsewhere in its northern region. Double-deckers already provide some off-peak services, which diluted the concept of the ftr as a something more than just a bus service.
