Generating coach group business at RDA

Article Image

Up to 1,300 exhibitors and more than 11,500 trade buyers are expected to attend the RDA Workshop in Cologne which takes place on 26-28 July. The event is the largest European sales, purchasing and B2B networking exhibition for the international coach and group travel sectors.

Companies wishing to exhibit  are still welcome at this year’s event which has the theme: Creating trends, generating groups.

The RDA-Workshop provides new business contacts and business opportunities for coach tourism companies, group travel destinations and coach holiday suppliers. For exhibitors it is an excellent chance to position their products and services on an international stage. Strong personal relationships, contact networks and co-operation at European and global levels are at the heart of this trade-only exhibition. Stands and booths are competitively priced with a choice of sleekly-designed standard shell stands as well as larger, open stands. Exhibitors registered have until 8 April 2011 to confirm their booking and an early-booker rebate of 15 per cent is available until 18 March.

The RDA-Workshop delivers a tried and trusted platform to exhibitors to meet coach and group holiday tour operators and network with potential clients under one roof. Exhibitors can develop business directly with decision-makers, to establish or expand their presence in the German market, and promote and sell their coach and group tourism products. the event also provides a great opportunity to assess current market developments, industry trends and service innovations.

RDA-Workshop trade visitors are recognised buyers, with 84.4 per cent being decision-makers, company owners, shareholders, managing directors, authorised representatives or assistant managers. One of the principal findings of the 2010 RDA-Workshop Visitor Survey was that 54.9 per cent of interviewees had placed or planned orders during the course of the exhibition – an increasing tendency, compared to 51.8 per cent in 2009. A further 25.1 per cent intended to secure orders after the exhibition and 52 per cent sought new offers while 41.5 per cent wanted to tease out new trends.

A special RDA-Workshop marketing campaign has been initiated for the third year running in 2011. This is intended to motivate exhibitors to come up with innovative new offers and market-oriented concepts specifically tailored to the international coach and group tourism sectors.

RDA members and RDA-Workshop exhibitors Lynnette Crisp, from Visit Kent, Therese Heslop, from Canterbury Cathedral, and Ann Watt from Hever Castle & Gardens, report that German coach visitor numbers to Kent are holding up very well and that forward coach group bookings to their popular UK visitor attractions are well up on last year’s figures. A good reason not only for Visit Kent partners but also for other UK destinations and suppliers to exhibit at this year’s three-day show. Mary Sewell from Medway & Historic Rochester says: “The RDA Workshop is where the best German coach holiday market contacts are made that will deliver sound and reliable business in the years to come”.

Whether visitor attractions, tourism organisations, hotels, culture and leisure suppliers, coach outfitters, incoming agencies or wholesale coach holiday operators, the organisers says that every exhibitor will find the right business partners for their products and services.
