Wolverhampton-based P&D York Travel has taken delivery of its first tri-axle vehicle, a high-specification Scania Irizar i6 luxury touring coach.
Based on a 13.22m Scania K 410 EB6x2*4 rear-steer chassis, the former demonstrator has Scania’s 410hp Euro 6 engine and fully-automated Scania Opticruise gear-selection system. The coach has 53 reclining seats, three-point seat belts, half-leather trim and piping, a centre sunken toilet, Frenzel drinks unit, USB charging sockets, climate control air conditioning and a DVD player with two monitors.
“We took delivery of a new Scania Touring coach last year and have found both the vehicle itself and service received from Scania to be exceptional,” says managing director Dave York. “We had been looking to upgrade another Euro 5 vehicle and looked at the Scania Irizar combination. The opportunity came along to purchase a 13.22m tri-axle vehicle with a very high specification and we felt it was an ideal vehicle for our fleet.
“This is our first three-axle coach and the initial driver response is very positive, especially the manoeuvrability of the coach with the steering tag axle.”
